This painting tells the story of a man forced to leave his small nest, a story of searching for safety in a world that sometimes seems merciless. It is a reminder that safety is not just a roof over his head, but a right of every human being.

The print is 16" x 12" matte to avoid glare on 280 gsm eco-friendly canvas, with rich, vibrant colours and sharp details, crafted to showcase Maysa's artwork at its best.

The Story Behind the Artwork

"This particular work was produced after I was displaced from my home more than once, but the last time was different... Every time we were displaced, we returned to find our home waiting for us. This time, we didn't find it, nor did it embrace us, and we never felt any warmth after losing it. It was a shelter for us and for every displaced person, despite its proximity to the east. But there was no alternative, and security was lost with every moment we went through during the war of extermination on Gaza. On August 24, 2024, I lost my home and every beautiful memory. I lost my studio, my entire artistic career, and my existence for years... And when we were ordered to maintain the morals of the home... we wished...  If we found a tent on the road to shelter us and find a safe haven...
Under an open sky, the tents stand as silent witnesses to stories of migrants who have migrated from warmth to cold, from stability to loss. Each tent holds within it the memories of a home that was once a haven for dreams, and today is just a shadow of memory.

The displaced here, amidst the folds of torn fabric, carry hearts heavy with grief for what has been lost and anxiety for what lies ahead. Their gazes search for lost safety, an uncertain future, a homeland that may never return. Children play among the tents, as if their innocence tries to ease the weight of reality, but the eyes of adults tell a different story: one of fear of the unknown and longing for the past.

In these tents, safety is not a roof that provides shade, but rather a distant dream. Every night brings cold and darkness, and every morning brings a new glimmer of hope. The displaced here live between despair and determination, between the loss of shelter and the anticipation of return."
